How we check movers
Last updated October 22, 2026
A badge that says FMCSA record checked means we read that mover's public FMCSA registration data on the date shown. It is not an endorsement and not a government certification. VettedMover is not affiliated with FMCSA or USDOT.
What we check
- USDOT number and legal name / DBA on the FMCSA SAFER Company Snapshot.
- MC (and FF) numbers where listed.
- USDOT status (active or not) and any out-of-service date.
- Operating authority: motor carrier vs broker of household goods.

How often we recheck
Each listing shows the date we last checked it. We recheck every listing monthly. Records change between checks, so re-check the live FMCSA page before you book.
Listings aren't paid
Movers can't pay to be listed, to get a badge, or to change their data or order. Some links may be affiliate links; we may earn a commission at no cost to you.
What we don't check
- Insurance filings and federal complaint counts, unless a profile says otherwise (they're marked "Not yet checked").
- Reviews, prices, quality, or on-time record.
- Whether a mover serves your route. Call to confirm before booking.
- State or intrastate licenses.
